St. Joseph's Building Campaign Update

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is it important to make a pledge as opposed to just donating without a pledge?

Having an adequate pledge level is critical for moving forward with the renovation project.  Approval for financing the renovation depends on having an adequate pledge base from parishioners in the parish.  In addition, as we begin to solicit funding from sources outside of St. Joseph’s, it is important to be able to show that the parish community is solidly behind the project.  Our goal is have 100 percent participation in St. Joseph’s pledge drive.

If I decide that I can give more than my initial pledge, would it be better to change my pledge amount or just include the extra amount in my donation envelope?

For reasons explained above, St. Joseph’s benefits when you include your planned donations in a formal pledge.

Does St. Joseph's Church qualify for matching donations?

Some companies will match all or a part of their employee's donations to certain causes.  St. Joseph's Church is a tax-exempt 501C(3) organization and, as such, would qualify for many matching gift programs.  Please check with your company to see if they will match your gift to St. Joseph's.

Can I make an honorary or memorial gift to the new church?

Yes, options for making both memorial and honorary gifts to the new church are being developed.  If you have already made your pledge to the new church renovations, you will have the option to combine the amount you have already pledged with an additional amount for an honorary or memorial gift. Others may wish to make honorary or memorial contributions over and above their pledged amount.  In the new facility, pews, fixtures, statues and rooms in the church, the chapel, and other areas will be available for memorializing or honoring loved ones, family members or special saints. If this is an option you would like to explore, please contact Fr. Adrian in writing at the church office and let him know about your wishes.

Will we be seeking monies from outside sources to help us renovate, operate, and furnish the new church?

Yes, monies are being sought from other churches, organizations, foundations and groups wishing to support our efforts to make traditional liturgical and educational practices available to more Catholics through our parish.

Will we be having any special fundraising events at St. Joseph’s?

Yes.  Volunteers are planning in-house fund-raising events such as a Christmas bazaar, a gift shop, a children’s walkathon, etc. for raising monies for the new church.  Information about opportunities for volunteering to help with these events will be published in the church bulletin and we hope everyone will enthusiastically support these fundraising (FUN raising) opportunities to help support the new church.

Can I donate stocks or bonds or other assets to St. Joseph’s renovation project?

Yes.  You may include information on what you would like to donate on your pledge card and someone will contact you, or you can contact the parish office directly for more information.

When will we be able to move into the new church?

Our goal is for all the renovations to be completed by November 1.   We will be able to move to the new church as soon as the sanctuary renovations are complete.   Some parish organizations, such as the Knights of Columbus, may begin meeting at the new church before this date.

How much will it take to complete the project?  Where will all the money come from to pay for the new church?

The following charts describe our projections for the total project cost and revenue sources.  The renovation costs are based on preliminary bids from two contractors to complete the sanctuary renovations depicted in the graphics below.

How much has been pledged so far?  What percentage of the parish has pledged?

A total of about $235,000 has been pledged so far from 98 pledges.   This represents about 36 percent of all St. Joseph's parishioners, and about 36 percent of the total we hope to receive from all pledges and dedications.
